{"id":2988,"date":"2017-08-25T09:53:20","date_gmt":"2017-08-25T14:53:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/projectcalls.com\/?p=2988"},"modified":"2017-09-20T10:32:28","modified_gmt":"2017-09-20T15:32:28","slug":"govt-meets-six-of-10-egc-policy-recommendations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/projectcalls.com\/dev\/govt-meets-six-of-10-egc-policy-recommendations\/","title":{"rendered":"Gov\u2019t Meets Six of 10 EGC Policy Recommendations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Government has met six of the 10 Economic Growth Council (EGC) policy recommendations targeted for implementation during the April to June quarter.<\/p>\n<p>EGC Chairman, Michael Lee-Chin, made the disclosure at the presentation of the Council\u2019s third quarterly report at the Spanish Court Hotel in New Kingston on Thursday, July 27.<\/p>\n<p>The policy recommendations come under three areas of reform \u2013 business climate, specifically public procurement; asset utilisation, in particular debt reduction and State asset privatisation; and Diaspora involvement in relation to immigration.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Lee-Chin said that among the targets met in the area of business climate reform was work by the Ministry of Finance and the Public Service to draft the Public Procurement (Techniques, Procedures and Offsets) Regulations and Public Procurement (Reconsideration and Review) Regulations, which were completed and tabled in Parliament in May.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, he noted that the Ministry completed work to develop the framework for public debt reduction through a programme of State asset privatisation and sale.<\/p>\n<p>The Chairman noted, however, that the May timeline to finalise and table the Public Procurement (Registration and Classification of Suppliers) Regulations, and complete the Handbook of Public Sector Procurement Procedures were missed.<\/p>\n<p>\u2026 <a href=\"http:\/\/jis.gov.jm\/govt-meets-six-10-egc-policy-recommendations\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">more<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><em>Image: \u00a0Jeff Knezovich (flickr)<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Government has met six of the 10 Economic Growth Council (EGC) policy recommendations targeted for implementation during the April to June quarter.
