Malaysian state-owned oil company Petronas has entered a new strategic agreement, this time with Subsea7 and SLB OneSubsea, to collaborate on field development projects offshore Suriname.
Through early engagement and execution, the collaboration between Petronas and the Subsea Integration Alliance, which comprises Subsea7 and SLB OneSubsea, aims to simplify complex procurement processes, reduce total development costs and enhance delivery certainty.
Under the framework, Subsea7 and SLB OneSubsea will provide front-end engineering and design (FEED) studies, plus engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning (EPCIC) solutions.
The workscope includes subsea umbilicals, risers and flowlines (SURF) from Subsea7 and subsea production systems from SLB OneSubsea.
“The combined deepwater expertise and collaborative, agile approach of Subsea7 and SLB OneSubsea, will maximise value as the developments secure vital energy resources in the region,” said Subsea Integration Alliance chief executive Olivier Blaringhem.
Petronas operates Block 52 with an 80% stake and is partnered by Suriname state-owned oil company and market regulator Staatsolie on 20%.
The Sloanea-1 development concept includes gas development wells, subsea infrastructure and a floating liquefied natural gas vessel.
Besides Block 52, Petronas holds stakes at six other offshore blocks in Suriname.
