The National Procurement and Tender Administra-tion Board (NPTAB) is set to receive a $145.2 million budgetary boost in 2026 as it transitions to a fully integrated e-procurement system.

According to Minister of Finance Dr. Ashni Singh during his 2026 Budget speech on Monday, this move builds on the 2025 efforts aimed at digitizing record-keeping and virtual tender openings. The 2026 roadmap introduces updates to the bidding process:

●          A dedicated website will be established to publish all government bids, consolidating opportunities that were previously scattered across ministerial and regional notice boards.

●          Public tender openings will now be accessible via direct links or QR codes, with official minutes posted to the NPTAB website immediately following sessions.

NPTAB will utilize a new registry to pre-qualify and classify contractors by region and expertise, streamlining the identification of eligible bidders for specialized projects.

A portion of the 2026 mandate focuses on inclusivity. In collaboration with the Public Procurement Commission, NPTAB will launch intensified training programmes designed to lower the barrier to entry for:

First-time bidders

Micro and small-scale contractors

Regional procurement personnel

By providing specialized in-field workshops, the government intends to broaden competition and ensure that smaller suppliers are equipped to compete for national contracts alongside larger firms.

The shift follows a review of the Procurement Act conducted in 2025, which was updated to legally support the transition toward digital bid submissions. This legislative foundation is expected to reduce paper-based bureaucracy and improve the overall “good accountability” of expanding national expenditure outlays.
